30 Day Challenge: Day 12 – Ruffian Mani!

Whoops, I had all these plans of waking up early and getting this one photographed so I could get my mani for tomorrow done as well, but nope. Turns out that when you stay up until 6AM, you tend to sleep until late afternoon hahahaha. Though there were multiple choices for the mani today(half moon, ruffian, or tips), I chose to do a ruffian mani because it’s the only one I hadn’t done before.  It’s different and simple, but I really like it. I love how the colors I ended up using looked together. Polishes used were Deborah Lippmann – Rockin’ Robin and Takko Lacquer – Bright Young Things.

Christmas Nail Art: Bumble!

Aaaaah I am so sorry! I promise I haven’t forgotten about you guys, I’ve just been crazy busy with the holidays and work and family that I’ve barely even opened wordpress lately. Plus trying to stick to my nail polish no-buy has been leaving me a bit uninspired. I hope to get back to posting at least 2-3 times a week once the holiday craziness is done, so we’ll see how that goes, hahaha!

Rudolph was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and Bumble was probably my favorite character in said movie. I’ve seen quite a few Rudolph inspired manis popping up all over tumblr/instagram/blogs, so I had to do one of my own!

Polishes used: Deborah Lippmann – Human Nature, Elevation Polish – Alphubel, Elevation Polish – Pic de Sotllo, Polish Revolution – Having a Kiki, acrylic paints.

Nightmare Before Christmas inspired nail art

This was another late night nail adventure! I couldn’t sleep last night so I made the mistake of turning on The Nightmare Before Christmas. The songs are going to be stuck in my head FOREVERRRRR. That’s okay though, it’s still one of my favorite halloween/christmas time movies. We even once had a black christmas tree decorated with Nightmare Before Christmas toys when I was a kid, hahaha.

Anywho. By the time the movie got to Oogie Boogie’s Song, I decided it was nail art time. This particular scene jumped out at me so I took a screenshot and used it as inspiration for this mani.

31 Day Challenge: Day 31 – Honor Nails You Love!

Praiseeeeeee. This challenge is over! It’s been so much fun but, I must say, after this post is done? You will not be seeing my nails for a few days hahaha. I somehow deleted or lost my extra swatch photos that I’d taken throughout the challenge for my future posts, and after 31 days of changing my polish at least once a day, I am leaving these bad boys alone for a bit! We’ll be back to regular swatchapalooza by Thursday or Friday though, so no worries.

For this challenge, as soon as I read the theme I knew who/what mani I wanted to base this on. Basecoat Topcoat on tumblr was one of the first nail art accounts I started following, and literally everything she does just blows my mind. I hope that one day I am as good at the crazy detailed things like she is! The particular mani that inspired me today was part of the get stoned series, her Opal mani. There’s a tutorial on her tumblr for how she did it, but I wanted to put my own spin on it so I used her post as more of an inspiration than a guideline. To get the marble-y look, I used the same water + alcohol + polish method that I did for the turquoise nails yesterday, only I did it with a bunch of colors in between layers of a light grey jelly. I am really happy with how these turned out, definitely going to enjoy staring at them for the next few days!

Polishes used: OPI – My Pointe Exactly, Deborah Lippmann – On The Beach, Deborah Lippmann – Almost Paradise, Deborah Lippmann – Fairy Dust, Deborah Lippmann – Edge of Glory(flakies), China Glaze – Papaya Punch, China Glaze – Pool Party, CND – Brilliant White

31 Day Challenge: Day 25 – Inspired by Fashion

Grr green polish. It ruins everything. This gradient was perfect until I added top coat and then it bled through to the other layers, tinting the blue and white bits a bit green. It still looks great though! It just doesn’t match my inspiration as well anymore, hahaha. My inspiration for this round was a skirt from the Peter Pilotto Spring ’14 show.

Polishes used: Elevation Polish – I Got The Axe, American Apparel – Manila, American Apparel – Cotton, Elevation Polish – Dykh-Tau, Deborah Lippmann – On the Beach, and acrylic paint in white and grey.

31 Day Challenge: Day 19 – Galaxy Nails!

Woo! Galaxy nails! These are probably my favorite things to do everrrrr. I really like how these turned out!  Not much else to say about this one, I’ll let the photo do the talking.

Polishes used: Colors by Llarowe – Purple Rain, Colors by Llarowe – Behead the Drama Queen, American Apparel – Office, Deborah Lippmann – Almost Paradise, Elevation Polish – Pic de Sotllo, Elevation Polish – Avalanche, and white acrylic paint for the stars.

31 Day Challenge: Day 12 – Stripes!

This wasn’t my favorite end result. I initially tried to use striping tape but I kept messing it up so I decided to just freehand the stripes and make them bigger.

I do, however, really like how the black stripes look with the polish I ended up using! It is probably  my favorite Deborah Lippmann that I own.

Polishes used: Deborah Lippmann – Rockin’ Robin and American Apparel – Hassid

31 Day Challenge: Day 4 – Green Nails!

This one has taken the place of yesterday’s mani as my new favorite! I don’t even want to take it off to figure out what I plan to do for tomorrow!

Polishes used: Elevation Polish – Wuyi Mountain, Elevation Polish – I Got The Axe, and Deborah Lippmann – Almost Paradise were the three polishes I used for the gradient, and then American Apparel – Cotton and Pahlish – Legra; 1956 were used for the accent nail(plus yellow/gold striping tape)

31 Day Challenge: Day 2 – Orange nails!

Hi guys!

I remember the last time I did this challenge, I don’t think I owned an actual orange nail polish, so I had to use a peach and call it a day, hahaha. My collection has grown(probably more than it ever needed to) since those days, so at least I now had a few oranges to choose from!

For this mani, I used Deborah Lippmann – Lara’s Theme and Elevation Polish – Huangshan.
